Talk at Down County Museum – 27 June

A Talk at Down County Museum
on Tuesday 27 June 2023 at 1.00pm
to mark the 225th Anniversary of the 1798 Rebellion.

‘Presbyterians, Politics and the 1798 Rebellion’
by Dr Andrew Holmes, Reader in History, Queen’s University Belfast

All but one of the members of the United Irishmen formed in Belfast in October 1791 were Presbyterians and the 1798 Rebellion in East Ulster was largely a Presbyterian affair.   This Talk will explore why many Presbyterians were attracted to radical politics and why many more were neither revolutionary nor rebellious.

The Talk is free but booking is required.
Email museums@nmandd.org or phone 0330 137 4049 to book your place.
