Due to the continuing risk from Coronavirus we have introduced a number of safety measures for the foreseeable future to protect visitors and staff. These apply if you are planning to visit the Presbyterian Historical Society of Ireland premises.
We ask visitors to follow the special measures that we have put in place. We reserve the right to ask non-compliant visitors to leave the premises.
You need to pre-book your visit at least a week in advance. Do not travel to Assembly Buildings without having received confirmation of your booking.
Only one visitor will be permitted in the Reading Room at any one time, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
- You can have only one booking, up to 3 hours, in a week - to allow other people the opportunity to book a visit.
- If you are unable to visit after booking please notify us as soon as possible.
- If you know which documents/books you want to see please tell us at the time of booking so that we can let you know if they are going to be available. Once a document/book/microfilm is ordered out it will have to be quarantined for 72 hours before they can be available for re-issue.
- Library books on the open shelves will not be available to you for browsing or taking off the shelf – you must request them from the member of staff.
- If you are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms please do not come to the Library/Archive.
- If you are travelling by public transport please follow the government guidance.
- We ask you to wear a face covering when you enter the premises unless there is a health issue that prevents you from doing so.
- Observe the safety measures we have put in place and maintain social distancing (2 metres apart) while in the lobby and Reading Room.
- Wash your hands or use the hand sanitiser before and after visiting our premises and regularly during visits.
- The toilet will be available. Please do not use the air dryer – use the paper towels instead and make sure that they are binned and the bin lid secured; follow the instructions about keeping the toilet area Covid free.
- Microfilm readers will be available. These will be cleaned after every use.
- Pencils and paper will no longer be provided. Please bring your own supply.
- To help with ‘Track and Trace’, the Society will keep a secure temporary record of your visit for 21 days after which time it will be destroyed; during this time your details may be shared with the PHA Track and Trace Service, if necessary.
Thank you for your co-operation with these safety measures.
We look forward to welcoming you back to the PHSI premises.
